Soothing Herbals was established in 2000 after Chin’s first son was born. Wanting to use only pure and organic products on his skin, she started making her own salves and balms.
Chin became a Certified Herbalist in 1996, after studying Western herbalism at the Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies in Boulder, Colorado. There, she completed her training in herbal therapeutics, aromatherapy, medicine making, organic gardening, clinical case studies, anatomy & physiology, nutrition and botany.
In 2004, Chin studied Integrative Ayurvedic Herbalism with Candis Hope Cantin. In 2007, she studied Sacred Plant Medicine with Stephen Harrod Buhner and currently is studying Clinical Herbalism with Kathleen Maier at Sacred Plant Traditions in Charlottesville, VA.

Chin lives with her family at the base of these mountains pictured, on 2.6 acres in Goshen, Virginia, between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountain ranges in the Shenandoah Valley. This is Soothing Herbals Botanical Sanctuary, where many medicinal, perennial, and annual herbs are grown and used in Soothing Herbals™ line of products. During the spring, summer and fall, Chin is out in her organic gardens planting, weeding, mulching, harvesting and drying herbs and flowers for use in herbal oil infusions and other herbal preparations for the products. All products are her handcrafted original recipes and formulations.
Everything is made in small batches, using fresh, natural ingredients to ensure the highest quality and organic integrity. Our intention is to offer you a truly spirited, healing and soothing herbal product that will make you feel radiant and beautiful.
Blessings,
Chin Velasquez,
Owner & Founder, Certified Herbalist
